DECEMBER 2004

25 December: NEW FEMALE STORY: Cendriller solid statue (10,300 words, rated PG). Not exactly Cinderella...this was originally supposed to be a short fairytale spoof, but it gradually snowballed. You have to plough through all the jokes to get to the (fairly serious) freeze scene, which involves a material I’ve never used before.

NOVEMBER 2004

23 November: ART: Three new “Indian Hunter” images (two small, one biggish) added to Paul Manship page.

OCTOBER 2004

22 October: NEW MALE STORY: Coming Home robotic (5,800 words, rated R). No freeze, but robot-style total loss of bodily control.

10 October: New and improved Links page. This replaces the existing Male, Female, Both Sexes and Reciprocal Links pages, but not the Cool Links page.
I’ve felt for a long time that surfers looking for ASFR pages probably wouldn’t want to keep hunting through four pages of links, so I’ve finally boiled them down to one. This involved creating a new table layout with logos on the left, most of which have had to be resized to fit. I think the result looks neat, and I hope visitors do too.
(NB the Cool Links page will retain the old format until I get around to updating it!!!)

3 October: NEW FEMALE STORY - although admittedly very short and with no overt sex: Gillian in Bronze solid statue (900 words, rated G).

SEPTEMBER 2004

8 September: Removed links to the Blogmalion page. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but it just wasn’t working. The idea was that whenever I thought of anything interesting I’d add an entry. Yeah, right - what were the odds on that ever happening?!

AUGUST 2004

16 August: Found a little piece in the CSS guidebook about how to add background colours to mouseovered links, so I’ve done it. Pointless really, but fun.

6 August: In my quest to convert this site to CSS, I have made two technical breakthroughs without any help from the guidebooks: (1) How to position an image to the immediate left (or right) of a paragraph with a drop capital; (2) How to create a drop capital accompanied by a quotation mark (i. e., a 2-character dropcap as opposed to the usual 1). You won’t believe how many bits of Heath Robinson coding I had to go through in order to figure that one out!

There are still one or two niggling little cross-browser formatting issues, but I’m slowly working them out. If anyone has any comments, please write and tell me. Remember, I’m doing this for your own good!!!

JULY 2004

26 July: With the help of a rather confusing “beginner’s guide” I’ve just begun to navigate the murky waters of cascading style sheets. In theory this will allow me to control the format of pages much more precisely and reduce the amount of coding on individual pages. The only trouble is, I’ll have to convert every single page on the site. With any luck I’ll be finished around December, so Merry Christmas.

6 July: NEW FEMALE STORY: The Treasure of the Ancients living statue/mannequin (5,200 words, rated PG)
Another story about a human girl encountering nymphomaniac immobilophile aliens, but this time they do indulge in a bit of foreplay first!

5 July: just for the heck of it, revised all the images in my female story Graces solid statue. The pictures in the story are now thumbnails linking to bigger and improved versions, and just as a bonus I’ve added yet another picture of The Three Graces that I took at the V&A.

JUNE 2004

16 June: New feature: Blogmalion - my half-baked opinions on life outside this site

MAY 2004

22 May: NEW MALE STORY - although admittedly very short and with no overt sex: The Shepherd Boy solid statue (900 words, rated PG), inspired by a Thorvaldsen statue - see immediately below

20 May: added some extra views of male statues to Bertel Thorvaldsen page in Art Gallery section

1 May: Portal expanded for 4th Anniversary month...actually the anniversary isn’t until the end of the month, but who cares?

APRIL 2004

26 April: NEW FEMALE STORY: Suspended living statue/mannequin (3,800 words, rated PG)
Four days in the making. I can’t believe I wrote it that quick. Hopefully it doesn’t show in terms of quality.

13 April: NEW FEMALE STORY: The Singer solid statue (12,400 words, rated PG)
Eighteen months in the making. Boy, am I slow or what? Hopefully it doesn’t show in terms of quality.

7 April: Redesigned Portal page. I’ve removed the New ASFR Webring box as the Ring wasn’t being updated, and more to the point, wasn’t bringing in any traffic. Webrings are a great idea in theory, but in this case I just didn’t feel it was working.

MARCH 2004

21 March: added Who’s Who page to male Ketrin series living statue/mannequin.

8 March: added story dates to Male Stories, Female Stories, Jaskri Series solid statue, Ketrin Series living statue/mannequin and Flotsam Series living statue/mannequin listings.

4 March (World Book Day): NEW FEMALE STORY: The Enchanted Grove living statue/mannequin (4,500 words, rated PG).
The calendar said “March Fourth”, so I marched forth and wrote this story.

FEBRUARY 2004

27 February: more early spring cleaning. Replaced some of the page logos with bigger ones. I have some ideas for redesigning the page headers, but they involve the dreaded image slicing, so you’ll just have to wait and see if I ever get around to it!

Mid-February: I’ve begun adding <title> tags to images in addition to the existing <alt> tags, so that Netscape and Mozilla users will see pop-up image titles as well as IE users. Bear in mind, though, that this is a very time-consuming procedure because there’s no way to automate it. I have to go through every page adding the new tags by hand, so be patient. Oh, why does life have to be so complicated?!

Late January - early February: revised and updated art and links on various Art Gallery pages

JANUARY 2004

11 January: New main Pygmalion Syndrome logos using Black Magic font, replacing the old Pygmalion Syndrome logos in Harrington font

1 January: Happy New Year.
Archived previous What’s New Page as What Was New 2003

DECEMBER 2003

17 December: revised layout of navigation buttons on Introduction, FAQ and Links Index, Female Links, Male Links, Both Sexes Links, Reciprocal Links and Cool Links pages. That only leaves this page to do, and that’ll be in the new year when the page format gets its annual makeover

Replaced two of the Dell Comics images on Kipling and Ketrin and Mowgli and Me page with better versions

NOVEMBER 2003

23 November: NEW MALE STORY: Ketrin Part Five living statue/mannequin (17,200 words, rated R). This is it, guys: Ketrin is finally naked and frozen. Bet you thought I was never going to get there. (Me too.) The previous instalment living statue/mannequin took two years to complete. This time around it’s only taken six months, but I’ve still had to hold over some scenes to the next story and end this one on a cliffhanger

OCTOBER 2003

2 October: changed layout of Art Gallery Index page to a more compact format

SEPTEMBER - JANUARY 2003
DECEMBER - JANUARY 2002
